Sylvia and Sietse found Valencia to be the perfect city for their second home. When they visited from Central Europe for the first time, they fell in love with the city’s light, climate and people. But finding an apartment to call home was no easy task.
Their search took them to one poorly laid out, dingy dwelling after another, none of which were right for them. Just as they were about to walk away from what is now their home for these very reasons, they discovered that we had drawn up a preliminary design for a new layout and functional and material solution for the apartment.
Our perspective helped them see the apartment through new eyes. So much so, that they bought it and commissioned us to design, build and furnish it to transform it into a true home.

Valencia is full of fascinating buildings from the early twentieth century with the modernist flavour so typical of the city’s architecture in that era. The aim of our renovation was to showcase the apartment’s historical features, construction and materials. We sought to combine them with new elements in an exercise in sobriety, but also material warmth. Exposed brick and wood can be found in every corner of the apartment.
Custom-made details were designed for every room, such as the long, lightweight shelving in the living room, with beige metal profiles and wooden shelves, and the partition separating the study area made from translucent bricks. The master bedroom, with a headboard made from the same wood as the floors, is topped by a fascinating set of mouldings that conceal the lighting. Every last detail is meticulously planned and designed.
Our studio was responsible for the design, construction and interior design of the whole apartment. This comprehensive approach allowed us to offer the clients our best possible service and results, as every feature was executed by the very people who designed it.
